Biography
Chris Johns is a pro-active mediator who prides himself on getting cases settled and behind the parties. He brings his 33 years of litigation skills of “Never giving up until the job is done” to his mediation practice.
Chris has been on both sides: An insurance Defense Attorney and a Plaintiff’s Attorney.
He has tried over fifty cases to verdict and has a keen understanding of how Plaintiffs think and the goals of Insurance Companies.
Chris graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1990 and has litigated cases ever since. He is AV-rated and a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum, receiving multiple verdicts of over one million dollars. As an insurance defense attorney, Chris did not lose any cases at trial. He was a member of the Jacksonville Defense Attorney’s Association, Florida Defense Attorneys Association, and National Defense Attorneys Association.
Chris had his successful law firm for over 28 years and can therefore relate to the benefits of getting cases settled at mediation in a timely and fair manner for all parties so as not to incur additional costs: the time and energy involved for both sides, the stress placed on individual clients in continuing the litigation process, and the certainty that comes with settling a case at mediation vs. the uncertainty at trial, for all parties.
Chris is a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Certified Court Mediator. Chris has limited his practice to being a full-time mediator exclusively. To maintain an unbiased, objective, and neutral perspective, he does not represent any parties in any areas of the law.
Chris provides all parties with his cell phone number and encourages the attorneys to contact him a day or so before the formal mediation commences so that he may gain insight into the parties’ positions and any issues that are better addressed with confidentiality between the attorneys and the mediator.
Chris will be well-prepared before the formal mediation commences, having spoken to all attorneys and read all mediation statements or other materials that may have been provided to him confidentially.
All parties, attorneys, and insurance representatives will be treated equally and respectfully.
Chris prides himself on genuinely and authentically hearing, understanding, and empathizing with all mediation participants.
What matters is not where the mediation begins but rather where the mediation ends up.
“Mediation is a marathon, not a sprint.” My goal is to settle your case by getting it across the finish line.
